NUDO is a New York based hammock and swing design studio established in 2017 by Robert Ramirez and Melissa Riling.
NUDO merges an eye for modern design with the feel of traditional weaving to create ethically made goods with a contemporary edge. Employing a cottage industry approach, NUDO partners with master weaver, Anderson Cruz, and his team in Chalatenango, El Salvador, which helps ensure craft preservation and job creation.
In 2015, Robert installed a hammock in his loft as an inventive seating option, inspired by the one his father was given when he emigrated from El Salvador. He later evolved this idea into a design driven hammock and swing collection when he met Melissa, who brought 5 years of experience working in home textile design and production. Along with the help of Robert’s father, Rafael, and dedicated teams both in NYC and Chalate, they created the interior design industry’s first luxury hammock and swing design studio, Pouch.
